From Happy Peppy, to utterly exhuasted in just three days.
Mind you, thanks to information offered to me by my wonderful wife and co-workers, I fully expected this, but there you go.
I come home after work and take about an hour and a half nap. Being a nurses assistant is not only physically exhausting, but emotionally and metally as well.
Check this out. At my place of work, more than half of the CNA's who were on days today are pulling a double shift, some from having worked evenings the day before. That is, they are working from 6am to 10pm.
And me, after three 8 hour days in a row...my ass is dragging. The odd thing, however, is that when it is going on, I am right there in it. I'm lifting heavy residents into wheel chairs and onto and off of toilets. Getting them out of bed. Keeping them from escaping. Helping them with whatever they need.
It is exhausting, but I have to tell you, there is NOTHING more rewarding that actually seeing the effects of your work. I get to see the help that I'm doing actually doing something.
What's more, I found out I'm helping out one of my heroes! Imagine my surprise! I had heard many stories of this resident and didn't even know it was her until today. Fucking WOW! I get to help one of my heroes, and I didn't even know it was her. ...coooooollllll!
