Horse Power Replaced by Ox Power

What it may all eventually come to.
And that's fine. Much healthier for the earth. More community oriented. A lot less noisy. Somewhat stinky but no where near as much as your regular freeway.

From Happy Peppy, to utterly exhuasted in just three days.
Mind you, thanks to information offered to me by my wonderful wife and co-workers, I fully expected this, but there you go.
I come home after work and take about an hour and a half nap. Being a nurses assistant is not only physically exhausting, but emotionally and metally as well.
Check this out. At my place of work, more than half of the CNA's who were on days today are pulling a double shift, some from having worked evenings the day before. That is, they are working from 6am to 10pm.
And me, after three 8 hour days in a row...my ass is dragging. The odd thing, however, is that when it is going on, I am right there in it. I'm lifting heavy residents into wheel chairs and onto and off of toilets. Getting them out of bed. Keeping them from escaping. Helping them with whatever they need.
It is exhausting, but I have to tell you, there is NOTHING more rewarding that actually seeing the effects of your work. I get to see the help that I'm doing actually doing something.
What's more, I found out I'm helping out one of my heroes! Imagine my surprise! I had heard many stories of this resident and didn't even know it was her until today. Fucking WOW! I get to help one of my heroes, and I didn't even know it was her. ...coooooollllll!

A GALLON OF GAS BY THE KINKS
As many of you astute readers know, Wall Street kicked up the price of a barrel of oil $11 in one day, a record, for a record high of $139 a barrell. The stock market itself, however, took a some 400 point dive. The dollar dropped against the Euro again. The housing mortgage crisis is worsening. Food prices are going up Up UP! Unemployment jumped to the admitted high of 5.5% (measured, to my understanding, as the people claiming unemployment insurance, not the actual number of unemployed, which is much higher). GM is shutting down some plants in the U.S. Ford is selling off their hummer design.
Gas here in Coos Bay hasn't gone up this weekend, remaining at $4.25 a gallon at our local shell stations. We'll see what it does tomorrow when the markets open and shit again goes crazy.
Get with your communities. Help each other through this crazy time a comin'.
PudgyIndian's note: Asia markets are opening down by 2% because of current oil speculation according to an Al Jazeera article. According to the article, OPEC isn't blaming the oil producing nations, but market speculation and international political tension.
Whaddya think, folks. Do you think the wealthy fucking shitholes whose one true god is money would fuck with us and the whole economy in such a way...FUCK YEAH they would.
Europeans are rioting in the street. You see, OPEC nations are also stating some contradictory information to what is getting to us. They are saying there is plenty of oil on the market already.
Mind you, oil is a finite source, but this...this shit...this is the wealthy fucking with the poor to make more money for themselves. "Not evil deeds. Just good business."

The Power of Nightmares

"The Power of Nightmares" is a powerful series produced by folks in Britian. In this film series, which you can download for free at a website if you click on the title, explains that there really is no organization behind Al Queda. That Al Queda is primarily a fantasy created by the U.S. in order to control its citizens through fear.
I watched this series in my sociology class. The "War on Terror" is not only NOT a war on terror, but a war on a complete fantasy. This fantasy gets many of our friends killed and or fucked up. It is committing genocide against whole nations and is planning on committing genocide in Iran. And you get stupid fucking americans like in the post about the Che Shirt thinking Argentina is in the Middle East and that Che is really Osama Bin Laden.
Yeah, Americans are fuckin' stupid. And we've all been duped by the genocidal neocon criminal fucks so they could fill the coffers of the already excessively wealthy Iraqi's, Afghani's, and so many others do the bleeding for their money.

Stupid Americans!
Roger, Cedara's longtime boyfriend, told us an amazing and wonderful story about one of his Che Guevara t-shirts.
Roger was wearing a Che shirt and a man pointed it out to his wife. "Look at the terrorist on that man's shirt," he told his wife.
The woman proceeded to rip Roger a new asshole, calling him a terrorist loving creton in so many words.
All Roger could do was laugh.
The man tried to calm his wife, because he was joking, and told her, "That's not a terrorist. He's an Argentinian doctor."
"I DON'T CARE WHAT PART OF THE MIDDLE EAST HE'S FROM!" she spat, and continued her verbal attack on Roger. Roger chose to just walk away.
You have to admit it...sometimes Americans are just so fucking stupid!

Shusli and I went to the big city this weekend, Portland, and visited our bud Chuck, whose gracious hospitality was wonderful.
On Saturday morning, we went to pick up Felicia. We dropped Shusli off with her friend, Paula, and Felicia and I took the time to reaquaint with each other while Shusli and Paula had a great time at the Goodwill Bins.
Felicia and I hit KBOO to see a few aquaintances there, then to Grendel's, William Temple House Thrift Store, Rich's tobacco...we all had a good time.
With all we were cramming into our weekend visit, we didn't really have time to visit all the folks we would have really liked to.
Sunday, we went to the Screen Door (24th and East Burnside) restaurant for brunch. We, like at all good restaurants in Portland on Sunday's, had to wait about an hour before we got seated. Chuck, Roger, Cedara, Maire, and Donovan joined us for one of the most wonderful brunchs ever. Half of us ordered friend chicken and waffles. I guess that is a regular southern dish, but it never occurred to us. There were three huge portions of tasty filleted and fried chicken breast on top of a waffle with a little powdered sugar on top. It was piled over 6 inches on the plate. It was well worth the wait.
We did a bunch of grocery shopping in Portland and Eugene because, well, Coos Bay has a...large lacking in good grocery stores. Shusli went to buy some beef the other day and asked an employee of the store where she could get the non-RBGH meat. "We don't have that here," or something like that was what the employee said. *sigh* We have too much freedom in the U.S. [hahahaha]We went to visit our friends Donovan and Maire whilst in town. Donovan gave me this AWESOME Sporine (sp?) as a graduation present from my CNA class. Basically, and no offense intended, it is a Scottish man purse worn in front of a kilt. Donovan does awesome work. If you wish to have some leather work done by Donovan, I can put you in contact with the man.
Many thanks:
Thank You Shusli, for making this whole trip and my determination to become a CNA a reality. Were it not for you, Beautiful, I would not have considered being a CNA, which has been one of the most rewarding things I have done in my life. Thank you for the journey to Portland and the reaquainting with our daughter, Felicia. Thank you for sharing all the wonderful treasures you got last night. Thank you for being a wonderful and amazing human being and a marvelous nurse. I Love you, my wonderful wife.
Thank you Chuck, for hosting us this weekend. Your hospitality is immeasurable and your kindness and years of friendship have been a sweet and marvelous gift, as well as the cigars.
Thank you Maire and Donovan for your years of friendship and Revolutionary spirit. Maire, you are a voice of sanity in an insane world. Donovan, you are an artist beyond compare with your leatherwork and other arts. Thanks for the Sporine.
Thank you Roger and Cedara. You folks are such great friends.
Thank you Carol for the wonderful property in which to sweat and the horses that the folks Love so much.
Thank you, Portland, for decent grocery stores and decent meat. Thank you for housing many of our friends and keeping them safe and happy. Thank, especially, for the "Screen Door" and "Hoda's" (34th and Belmont).
To all those I haven't thanked...THANK YOU! You're awesome!
