I am fascinated with old and dying buildings and other such structures.
Here in Coos Bay, docked in the bay is a former stern trawler being scrapped out called the "Arctic Challenger." Having read "Four Against the Arctic" and having always wanting to be a world traveller, and being interested in big old things that are discarded and of no use anymore, I attempted to find out some background on this ship.
The folks I contacted informed me that it was built in 1975 and launched on February 13th. It was also used in helping rescue three folks from the "Girl Rona" which sank. That has been about all the information I have been able to get.
Again, too, it also makes me think of the collapse of civilization. The big things also get discarded even though they can still be of some sort of use. This fascinates me. I don't know why. I'm much weirder than you all have imagined.
