The Story of How Our Newest Family Member Came to Join Our Household: In a Roundabout Way, of Course

Our cat, Yeti, passed away a couple of months ago.
Folks still walk by and look for him,
so Shusli put up this memorial poster.

When we were burying Yeti in the backyard,
a squirrel came running by with two nuts hanging from his mouth,
one from each side.
Shusli has made the comment that he was bringing Yeti back is nuts.
I believe this to be the guy that did so.
I took this picture as he was hanging out in the tree in our back yard.

While walking to breakfast this morning,
we saw this sign which obviously made a mistake of the obvious.

On the way back,
we saw a pile of cats on the roof of a car.
We later made the appropriate sexist remarks,
but damn,
this sure was a cute happenin'.

Shusli made friends with a kitty whose human has passed on.
His name is Jake.
He is our newest companion,
acquired today.
He is shown her,
dusting the floor beneath our entertainment center.

Which brings us to that all important question,
"How do you eat a Reese's Peanut Butter cup.

Needless to say,
we know this little creature will be none too happy.
But then again,
when is she happy?

Kristallnacht

On November 9 and 10, 1938, in Nazi Germany, the Germans rampaged against the Jews in what has become known as Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass. This, of course, helped motivate further the genocide of the Jews, Sinti, Roma, Serbs, and others by the Nazi's. One of the death camps you rarely hear about is Jasenovac, from Croatia. The reason you rarely hear about it is because it was ran by the Catholics with ties to the Vatican. You don't want the Vatican getting a black eye in their participation in this and so many other genocides do you? The first photo is of Auschwitz, the second, Jasenovac. Don't forget these things. Stop the ones happening right now. Stop all future death camps etc. This insane form of alleged existence has got to stop. Never forget. NEVER!

From the Ashes

I burn to ash,
and the wind carries me
to a vast pile of grey.

The wind that has blown for millions of years
across oceans and waves
through the trees
shaking leaves, needles, nuts, and fruits
loose to the earth
to feed the world.

The winds that have blown across
billions of faces throughout time
through the fir of animals
pushing rain drops sideways
swirling snow into beautiful art,
seen, then never seen again.

My pieces lay amongst the grey heat
where someone comes by,
picks up a coal
starts drumming to the heart beats
that raise new heart beats
from the ashes
where new life forms
and the wind blows
through the leaves,
the fur of animals,
across the faces of humans...

The Worlds Most Horrific Terrorist Oganization

I usually don't write about this kind of thing, but I think it is about time we discussed the worlds most horrific terrorist organization. That's right...Christianity.

Christianity has been around for 2000 years, and to my understanding has been one of the most horrific terrorist organizations for the last 1700 years. In 1492, Chris C. came to the Western hemisphere and as a Christian, he and his horrific gang of thugs started slaughtering and enslaving Indians.

I have heard of the horrors that Christianity has done to the world, currently in warfare form in Iraq and Afganistan, soon to be Iran, but let's have a brief history lesson on Christian terrorism here in Indian country. Missionaries kidnapped many Indian children to turn into wage slaves through their boarding schools and further the genocide of their people. In these schools, they systematically raped and sometimes murdered many of these children. Christian terror organizations keep their boot on the neck of indigenous economies, often starving Indians or creating suffering on various reservations. In the good old days, Good Christians use to feed Indians (Red Niggers) to dogs, sometimes for entertainment, sometimes because their dogs needed food. Some of these dogs were fed exclusively Indian flesh.

Currently, Christian terror organizations force their style of economy, usually to steal resources, down the throats of other nations and create horrific suffering amongst the peoples of those nations.

Christian terror organizations are slaughtering Iraqi's and Afghani's at the moment for the oil business (just like Chris C. slaughtered Red Niggers to get their gold). Why, I've even heard of contractors, hired by Christian terror organizations, have been raping the children of Iraqi women in front of them as part of their "enhanced interrogation techniques."

Christian terror organizations are currently kidnapping Akha children to try to destroy the Akha people so the Queen of Thailand can steal their land and resources. It is alleged these Christian terrorists are raping these children and sometimes using them as sex slaves.

Chrisitian terrorism has got to be stopped. How we must do it, I am not sure, but Christian terror has got to be stopped.

The Word Christian should have the word "terror" in each sentence that it is written or spoken in, or, at the very least, each paragraph.

What I am getting tired of is with every sentence I hear on the news with the word "Muslim" in it, it is followed soon thereafter by the word "terror.

The above is actually an inspiration from an interview with a Muslim in England. The interviewee was told by the BBC interviewer that Muslims are affiliated with terror and should prove their loyalties instead of just being citizens.

Let's look at that for a moment. For blacks to prove their loyalty to the U.S. government, they took part in the Buffalo Soldiers, a form of "Operation Human Shield" (See "South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut"). They were hired to kill Red Niggers to prove their loyalty to the nation and the man. Indians do this today when they join the U.S. military, the same Christian terror organization that has slaughtered their families.

Non-Muslim citizens of Britain don't have to prove their loyalties. This, of course, is completely racist and, well, an act of Christian terror by a Chrsitian terrroist nation state.

A skull, by any other shape or size...

One time I cornered my co-host, David Liberty, a former Ph.D. candidate in the field of archaeology, in an interview about phrenology in the Kennewick Man case. He said:

The diversity of skull shape and size is greater within the group than within the groups. In other words, the diversity in skull shape and size within the Spokane will be greater than the difference between the Spokane and the Brits. I use this same pattern in many social organizations and so far have not found a single situation where this idea doesn't fit.

Within Muslim organzations there is vast diversity. There are groups within groups within groups. Same with Christians. There are groups within groups within groups. And all of these groups often have diversity within the individuals. There are Christians who are willing to slaughter massive amounts of people for their religious beliefs. There are Muslims who'll do the same thing. Their are Muslims who would never kill a human because of their beliefs. Same with Christians.

The word "terror" and its dirivitives are thrown about as propaganda. What terrorism really is is rarely looked at, just like racism. It is another pattern followed regularly. The argument is narrowed to a form to be used by one organization against another. In this case, it is Christians using the word "terror" against Muslims without looking at what their various organizations and individuals do within their groups. They narrow the argument to their favor and use it as propaganda to continue their warlike terror campaigns.

I think it is time folks look at their own shit and stop using the word "terror" for propaganda because, truth be told, many of the most horrific terror organizations come out of Christianity and the United States government.

David Liberty Gives Art to KBOO

David Liberty, co-host of "Mitakuye Oyasin," gave KBOO a print of artwork by Adrian Larvie. Thank you for the excellent gift, David, as well as being the co-host of "Mitakuye Oyasin" and "Native Nations," the work you've done around Kennewick Man, the work you've done around getting a stallion to the descendent of Chief Joseph, and so much more.

MISSING PERSON: Della Ann Red Cherries

Della Ann Red Cherries was taken from the Red Cherries home by the Oregon Department of Human Services on September 26th. Two days later, she disappeared from the foster home in which she was placed.

If you have seen her, know her whereabouts, or have any information, please call the numbers provided or write on the comments on this blog or something. Please keep an eye out for her. If you see her, please tell her to go home. Try not to get DHS involved, they are the ones making this into one whole big mess as it is. They will probably only make it worse.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Eugene Douglas Johnson

Forward Base Falcon: Happy Belated Anniversary, 10-10-06

I forgot an important anniversary last month on October 10. It was the first anniversary of the attack that blew up big sections of Forward Base Falcon, just south of Baghdad. Here is the original Al Jazeera article. According to one general, no one MIRACULOUSLY, was killed. Hmmmm!

However, on TBR News, they say over 300 U.S. soldiers were killed on that day over a year ago and even give a list of names.

This is a photo of the explosion at the time. Wow! And no one was allgedly killed in this massive explosion where there are housed many U.S. soldiers to watch over these munitions. Oddly, this day, October 10, 2006, absolutely no U.S. soldiers were killed.

Remember, Mi Lai was covered up for almost 2 years before information was leaked.

Photography

My interest in photography is rather old. As a kid, I used to use a little 110, but I never took any photographs of anything interesting.

Before I got married the first time, some 16 years ago, I had bought a 35 millimeter, and my now ex-wife and I took it to Browning, Montana because a friend of mine was getting married. By then, I had already been a poet for years. Felicia, I believe, was 2 at the time, so musta been 10 years ago. I was working on a book called "Cigar Store Indian" [never published, all the short stories and poems are now lost in time] and I wanted a cover for it.

In Browning, Montana, one has an absolutely fabulous view of the Rocky Mountains. In Browning there are also lotsa dead vehicles all over the prarie. I found this beautiful rusted out old pick up with all of its tires gone. I handed my camera to Lisa, my ex, I grabbed Felicia, a rather large cigar, and we went and sat on the roof of that old rusty dead truck. Felicia was under my left arm, cigar in my right hand, and Lisa took several pictures of us from behind as we looked to the East at the glorious Rocky Mountains.

Shortly thereafter, my sister-in-law at the time broke my camera, and shortly after that, Lisa lost all of that film. Because I'm writing about it, it must be obvious that it still hurts.

Recently, Lisa found a lot of undeveloped rolls of 35mm film. I got all of them developed and...nothing. Of course, this brings up the heart ache of all that as well. It still hurts when I think about it. That would have been such a sweet photograph.

I didn't do photography for a long time. I kept up the poetry. I still write, but not so much poetry now. Then...

Shusli and I got together. She has a nice digital camera and she has taken some awesome pictures with that as you can see some of them on her blog. So...

Last year that inspired me to buy a digital camera of my own, and I started taking photographs.

What I Love about taking photographs with a digital is the INSTANT GRATIFICATION. You see, the wait to get those photos of Felicia and I and the Rocky Mountains is still painful, knowing that that film must be out there somewhere, maybe somewhere in a box in Felicia's mom's house. And, in some way, it is that ache for that one photo that inspires me to take photographs today.

When I received my per capita check from my tribe in August, I bought myself an Olympus SP-550UZ.

I Love this camera!

And now, that little ache in the back of my heart inspires me to take photographs, sometimes somewhat obsessively. It is the instant gratification that would have saved those pictures I had taken of Felicia and I all those years ago.

And just like my poetry, I don't expect that any of this will create any kind of career for me, it is just an outlet for my creativity. So, if you are interested, please visit my photography blog and see some of the photo essays I have created there. I was pretty inspired by the most recent, "Poster," which I took the photos while Shusli was on a call last night.

Let's Waterboard Michael Mukasey

Let's waterboard Michael Mukasey, afterall, it's not REALLY torture. I think that everyone who states to believe that waterboarding is not torture...GET WATERBOARDED. I mean, it's not torture, right, so it should be OK, right?

The Dems have pushed through his nomination in the judiciary to be the new atorture general.

Man oh man, what can one say. This is totally f***ed up. You think the dems are gonna save the U.S. and the world, take a closer look at this crap!

Native Gangs

About two years ago, I went to a ceremony in Puyallup, Washington. I was told by an elder there that some nine young Indian men had been murdered in that town that year. Most of this was due to gang activity. Indian gangs going after other Indian gangs.

On Sunday, at the Native American Flute Festival, Shusli and I ran into a man I've been running into from time to time for the last several years, Frank Niso Caywood [at left]. I have had many conversations with Niso during these last several years and knew of his work with gangs. Niso informed Shusli and I of the work he does around gangs, especially Native gangs. We decided to invite Niso down to the next "Mitakuye Oyasin" radio program, Thursday, November 8, from 1:30 to 3:00pm PST. So tune in and hear a discussion between Niso, David Liberty, Shusli Baseler-Johnson and myself about Native gangs.

I have been fascinated with the energy of the youth since I first heard of Native gangs and gangs in general. I have always wondered what if they harnessed their energy that they use to fight each other to help their peoples and to struggle against the oppressive U.S. government. GODDAMN! I think even King Dick might piss his pants and shoot a few more of his friends if they did that.

So tune in to KBOO 90.7fm in Portland, 100.7fm in the Willamette Valley, 92.7fm in the gorge, and on the web at www.kboo.fm to listen live in your area.

Hail Mary Pass Thrown...AND IT'S CAUGHT!

Dennis Kucinich threw a "hail Mary pass," as it were, in congress by introducing articles of impeachment against King Dick Cheney. Surprisingly, but not TOO suprisingly, it was the Republicans who helped push this through. It now goes before the judiciary committee. The speculation amongst the political scientists is that the republicans want to FORCE the democrats to keep on discussing this issue to make them look bad for the next election. But, throughout this administration, King Dick and co-King George have been seriously pissing off a lot of Republicans. Maybe this is a sign of their disfavor towards our king. The democrats, however, were the STRONGEST opponent towards these articles of impeachment and wanted to table it so the kings can continue to do their dirty work. And, if any of you readers are wondering why Dennis is going after King Dick and not co-King George, and pretty much Dennis said that if he went after co-King George, that would put the master mind of the current war crimes as the all supreme leader, and folks, would you really want King Dick as the front man?

Could it be that this action will help put a halt to the Genocidal Duo's actions and prevent the deaths of millions upon millions of people at the hands of King Dick and co-King George? I don't know, but the effort seems well worth it. Good job, Dennis!

Porcupine Clinic Out of Heat

Porcupine Clinic Out of Heat

By Stephanie M. Schwartz, Freelance Writer

October 26, 2007 Firestone, Colorado

Porcupine Clinic, located in the small community of Porcupine, South Dakota on the Pine Ridge Oglala Lakota [Sioux] Reservation is out of heat. According to Stella White Eyes, Administrative Assistant for the Clinic, the Clinic has closed its doors until it can find resources to fund their heating costs.

Porcupine Clinic is the only independent Indian community-controlled health clinic in the United States. It is not connected with the Federal Indian Health Services (IHS) program and is funded primarily by grants and donations. Unfortunately, those resources have become exceptionally rare this year.

I Could Be Doing Something Better With My Time, But I'm Not

Workstation
A Random Act of Beauty Around the House

John Trudell

I'm gonna try to not do this in not too angry of a post.

John Trudell is a long time Indian activist. He was involved heavily with AIM. John particpated in the occupation of Alcatraz and was one of it's leaders. His wife and children and mother-in-law were murdered on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation, his wife, Tina, was quite the activist herself, and therfore quite possibly a target, but that is speculation and still a mystery. John is also quite the amazing poet. I have interviewed him once, and have seen him lecture, play music, read poetry, and do one helluva lot to further and inspire the aspirations of other Indians. (See the documentary, "Trudell," to have a further understanding of this great soul in our presence.) John Trudell has been accused in the past of particpating in or somehow being a part of the murder of Anna Mae Aquash, a powerful woman in AIM some 35 years ago. These stories turned out to be total BULLSHIT! Now, onto the current accusations being set forth.

Several months ago, the new director of "Native Nations" checked out a show where Rob Robideau was showing some of his art on NW 23rd. She invited him to come down to the television show and I just thought, whatever. I know who he is and what he has done and been through, but I just didn't think about it all that much, then all shit broke loose with the staff of the show. Rob Robideau, you see, is the current accuser of John Trudell being an FBI or federal informant of some kind, and with little or no evidence (my understanding is NO evidence) that such is ACTUALLY true. Some of the TV crew REFUSED to participate in the show, and I had to make the move to uninvite the man. You see, most of the members of my crew have been involved in Indian movement issues for DECADES, and know what's going on. They KNOW John personally and are well versed on Rob Robideau and many others from WAY BACK to the present.

A little background on Rob. Rob Robideau was one of the two other men involved in the case of the killing of the two FBI agents at Oglala, SD, in what, '73 was it? Rob Robideau and Dino Butler were both aquitted for reasons of self-defense, then Leonard Peltier was railroaded in what, '75, and is still in prison. There is a lot of questions about that case, but I won't go there in this post. Read Peter Mathiessen's book, "In the Spirit of Crazy Horse."

Now a little background on the possibility of why Rob is perpetuating this bullshit:

I did an interview with Dino Butler some 8-10 years ago. I asked Dino about "Mr. X." Mr. X, for those of you who don't know, was some mysterious fella who claimed to be the actual shooter of those two FBI agents that Leonard is in prison for, not that it really matters. Dino said something that has stuck in my mind ever since. He said that Rob had called and asked him to get involved in this LIE. Dino refused. He told Rob that the only way you're gonna get Leonard out of prison, if at all, is with THE TRUTH.

Fast forward a bit:

Oliver Stone wants to make a movie about Leonard Peltier. He hires Rob Robideau as a consultant. Rob stands to make a lot of money. The Mr. X thing was going to be a part of this movie. My understanding is that Oliver got in contact with John Trudell, and somehow found out that the Mr. X thing was a buncha bullshit and decided not to make the movie, and thus, Rob was out a large chunka change.

Thus, the stage has been set for Rob to come forth with an UNSUBSTANTIATED article accusing John of being an FBI informant via his testimony on the case of the alleged shooter, who was it?, John Graham? Complete and total bullshit!

Now, let me tie this in with some modern Indian youth gangland stuff. Shusli and I talked with Niso Caywood, a consultant on gang issues, especially Indian youth gangs. We invited Niso to talk on the next "Mitakuye Oyasin," and hopefully he'll be there. He talked about how gang issues or accellerated when these kids are kicked out of school. They have nothing to do. Might as well hang more with the gang and do all sorts of gang stuff. However, the various Indian gangs on the rez's and in the city streets concentrate on something rather, well, common: EACH OTHER. Indian gangs for the most part spend time going after OTHER INDIAN GANGS. Indians attacking other Indians. How common is that?

What you have with this Rob attack on John is just that. Indian on Indian violence. Just no one is throwing fists.

Now to the FBI. The FBI did something to Anna Mae, which is why, no matter who the shooter and accomplices were, the FBI and the U.S. government hold ULTIMATE responsibility for Anna Mae's murder. (note: The U.S. gov. wanted to turn the Black Hills into a national sacrifice area, it turns out. They wanted to build some 26 nuclear and coal fired power plants to supply electricity to pretty much the whole nation for the wealth, of course, of the already excessively wealthy.) The tactic used by David Price, FBI agent in charge at the time, is called SNITCH JACKETING. After at least one mass arrest, Anna Mae was held for several hours longer than the rest. What this does is make it look like she was an FBI informant (sound familiar). It makes it look like she was talking. The feds knew she was an important person in this movement, and they wanted to get her out of the way. David Price even told her so. Some time later, Anna Mae is found with a bullet in her head.

Now, when I talk about ACTUAL substantiated allegations of Indian pedophiles, adult Indians who rape Indian children, I can't get a peep out of ANYONE let alone another fuckin' Indian. These are people whose VIOLENCE effects and often makes inneffective (see past posts about Cluster Bombs) children who are damaged by these actions for THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. Many can work to live functionally despite this, but most are effected the rest of their lives. NOT A FUCKIN' PEEP OUT OF ANYONE IN INDIAN COUNTRY!

It may seem that I'm jumpin' back and forth here, but I'm not.

In my opinion, Indian on Indian violence is doing the FBI and U.S. governments work for them. When all of those so many Indians go after John Trudell, they are helping the FBI and the U.S. government. You see, they could spend all that energy attempting to effect change in the U.S. government. They could use it to organize Indians to go after, say, the U.S. government for its way too numerous to mention crimes.

Give an Indian a bat, the desire and motivation to kill, and more than likely they'll go after another Indian.

One of the reasons I will hardly write about this is because, NOT DOUBT, this post will raise the hairs on the back of some Indians neck and soon will be attacking me or further attacking John or going after Rob or going after some other Indian for some stupid perceived reason. What, go after the U.S. government, the ACTUAL perpetrator of all these crimes? But it is so much easier and such an easy copout to go after an easier target and possible ally, another Indian. Organize all that gang energy where Indians are OPPRESSING other Indians, get them to start a movement helping other Indians, get all those Indians to fight off the oppressor and change our world and the whole fucking world(most likely not using arms since, as we've learned, the U.S. loves to kill and ALWAYS goes after the weak links with horrific force)...NAH! So much easier to oppress and kill our fellow Indians. Some deserve ACTUAL justice, like the above mentioned pedophiles, but, for some odd reason, most Indians aren't interested in stopping those internal monsters and instead, will go after other gang members or other AIM members.

Indians, fighting and killing other Indians. It's a long time tradition that I believe has got to come to an end.

Survival

On October 16th, on Democracy Now, Yoko Ono talked about survival as well as Peace. I paraphrase: We all have or should have the desire to survive. There are things we have to do in order to survive, and Yoko, with her enormous positive attitude, states that we will do them. We have to.

Although that is not the type of survival I am about to talk about, the words that Yoko shared on Democracy Now struck me in a very good way. Patterns can often be copied and overlayed onto other situations. They may not fit exactly, but there are many similarities.

Shusli and I are both victims and survivors of verbally abusive relationships. I will talk here about my survival of horrific verbal abuse in hopes that it may help some of you readers out there in your future survival in the world. What I and so many others (including Yoko and Shusli) believe, is that we all want to live in peace. So one of the many definitions for survival could be walking toward peace. Real peace. Not this often abusive bullshit perpetuated by much of the alleged peace movement in this nation.

There are many kinds of survival, some healthy, some not so healthy. I have been married three times. The first two were abusive relationships. The first was more manipulative and working on crushing my self-esteem in order for her to get what she wanted out of me, which was no oversight on her over spending. But I want to concentrate on my second marriage, which was the horrific one.

My second wife would scream at me at the top of her lungs and in my face. That screaming would often be accompanied with her spit from her ferocious verbal attacks getting all over my face and glasses. Like most if not all victims of abuse from someone we Love, I figured if I was just a better person then the abuse would stop (a not so healthy type of survival). But the weirdest slights could come with ferocious verbal violence. Once, I called the "Solstice Lights" "Christmas Lights," and she went into a tirade right in front of my daughter, and thankfully, left the house. Shutting the seat belt in the car door was almost always followed by verbal violence. The last year of this five and a half year ordeal was the worst.

She would scream so loud at me and often, in the last year, it had "I HATE YOU" and "I COULD JUST HIT YOU!" and "I COULD JUST KILL YOU!" thrown in there. How I survived in that moment was to numb my soul, sit in front of her, take the attack, try not to talk. If I said anything, it became worse. If I defended my actions, it became worse. I would only talk if she asked me a question. When I answered, my answer would always lead to a feirce attack. She would also bring up a childhood trauma of mine. This trauma was linked to everything I did in her eyes. And she used that trauma as a weapon in her abuse of me. Numbing myself and taking it was how I survived it. Crying would only make it worse. Walking away would prolong the abuse session for days. It was pretty much daily anyway. That is the way I not so healthily survived that abuse.

My healthy survival technique was leaving her on September 19, 2004. But just leaving wasn't enough, I had to heal. Not only did I have to heal from her abuse, I also had to heal from my childhood trauma all over again. But one must understand that in any such situation where one is abused or traumatized, healing is a process. The abuse is something that never leaves you, you learn to survive it in healthy ways or you continue suffering. One should definitely get themselves out of an abusive situation if it is possible. One should always seek help, never try to survive alone. Getting out of an unhealthy situation does not bring instant gratification to ones health. Your heart and soul will never forget. You have to relearn how to have healthy relationships even with friends and family. You have to find what is right for you in your survival because survival can be as individual as a fingerprint and as common as the fact that we all have fingerprints.

Another part of my survival has been in learning to have a healthy Loving and Beautiful relationship with Shusli. At times, it has been difficult for me because I am always looking over my shoulder at those past relationships. But Shusli is one of the most Awesome and Beautiful and Wise women I have ever met. She is constantly growing in her wisdom and beauty, although she doesn't see it. I have the honor and privilege as her Proud Husband to bear witness to her constant growth. Shusli has taught me what a healthy relationship is, how it is as individual as a fingerprint and as common as the fact most of us have fingers. A healthy relationship is constantly growing, constantly moving. But, Shusli and I both still hurt from past relationships from time to time. It is all a part of healing. It is all a part of survival.

You can take this form of survival and place it as an overlay on most situations in our lives. What is healthy and unhealthy for us? How can we change it? What is healthy and unhealthy for our various masses? How can we change it?

Get out there, folks. Don't just survive by being alive, survive by being the vibrant and glorious human beings you are meant to be. Share that with others. Survive, thrive, and LIVE!

HAPPY DIA DE LOS MUERTOS!

Today, I remember my father, my grandmother, my grandfather on my dad's side, my friend Tim.
