Today is the day, folks! Today, we will be moving to our new house in Coos Bay.
[Please read Shusli's blog for her comments and farewells to the rather disappointing alleged peace movement here in P-Town.]
As the plan goes, we will be picking up the u-haul at 7:30am. I am hoping that we can have it all packed up by noon, and be to Coos Bay by 5pm. We will unpack as much as possible tonight, and I will drive Shusli's car back tomorrow and move in with the Loving/Lichtenstein folks. During the few weeks to follow, I will still be attempting to purchase a car, sell my old one, sell my bunk beds, etc. I will also be cleaning up the old house. Shusli will be putting together the new house and coming up here to help with the old house when she isn't working.
My last OFFICIAL hosting of "Native Nations" television show will be Thursday, March 20, 2008. My last OFFICIAL hosting of "Mitakuye Oyasin" radio program for KBOO will be on Thursday, March 27, 2008. I hope to make it my "Farewell Program." I may come back and make appearances at times, but this will seriously depend on work and hopefully school schedules as well. I make no promises as I am making room for others to take over.
David Liberty will be the host of both programs, and we hope we have dragged in Adam, a young high school student, to co-host with him. A young woman named Rene will be helping out as well at some point at least with the TV show.
As Shusli works at Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay, I will hopefully have a job and get myself into the CNA program. If I like that work, and I'm sure I will, I'll try to get into nursing school and become a nurse as well. Nurses are some FANTASTIC FOLKS, and I hope I have that type of gumption in me that I see in Shusli and all nurses I have met.
And, of course, we will both be working with communities already there, helping expand on those communities, and work on getting the land base back and healthy for all of us and future generations.
Maybe we'll come back some day...Maybe we won't.
Many years ago, 43 approx., my family moved up here to the Portland area. I have lived in this area the whole time in MANY different places, from Newberg to Milwaukie, from Oregon City to North Portland. Many years ago, I used to sit on my grandpa's lap, amazed my tiny arms couldn't fit around this bigger than life figure than me. He is buried in Reedsport, and I plan on finding his grave. I know most of my Indian family has moved to the Siletz Rez. I don't know if any of my family resides in the area of Reedsport and Coos Bay anymore. Maybe I made a promise to grandpa to come back someday, I have no real idea...but here we go!
WOO HOO! LIFE IS GOOD!
