Finally Hitting the Ground on my Education

After a week of waiting and occasionally calling and bothering folks, I was called yesterday for an interview for the CNA class I was looking to get into and was told during the conversation that I was pretty much "a shoe in."

So, starting Monday, for three days a week, MWF, 8 hours a day, I will be getting educated on becoming a CNA for the next 10 weeks. Every Tuesday evening for three hours, I take a sociology course at SWOCC and receive three credits towards the 49 pre-req credits I need to get into the nursing program. Now I need to cram some sort of employment into Tuesday and Thursday and every other weekend. "Daddy needs a job!"

This weekend Shusli and I will be taking a CPR class together (also a requirement for a CNA) from the same woman who will be teaching my CNA class.

Tonight, Shusli and I will go to Collette's Bookstore for a poetry reading. There will be an open mic afterwards where I will be educating some folks and quite possibly filling their hearts with terror. Who knows what will come of that in this town.

I haven't received all that much open racism here. In fact, I've received more racism in Portland. Just one "I should kill you" type of look from a young woman has been about it, and yes, I have been getting around in this town.

I've been taking a lot of photos and will have more to post here later.
