Ok...I take it back...

...AIM is doing something!





Rhonda and I got to the Dennis Banks lecture after it started and we got front row seating, too. We saw Calvin Hecocta before it started. Calvin has such a sweet smile and is such a wonderful human being. He is the one that brought Dennis here. Dennis will be lecturing in Eugene today, 7-28.

Dennis started his lecture with his '73 trial. It was such a horrific miscarriage of justice that the judge, a Republican, threw the case out and was embarassed by how the FBI were behaving, embarassed for this nation.

He then talked about the "Longest Walk," which took place in '78, because folks couldn't drive to DC to fight 11 bills before congress who terminate all treaties with Indian tribes (a violation of article 6, section 2, of the Constitution). Because of this 5 month walk, Indians defeated all 11 of those bills.

Then he talked about doing it again, strating this February. There will be two routes. One will take the old route and the other that he will take will take a southerly direction through Texas. This is to bring attention to Indian issues, how meth is destroying our communities, and to instill pride in our youth to carry on the fight.

Rhonda is planning some heavy volunteering for this. Rhonda got there phone numbers...hey...wait a minute! What is my sweetie doin' getting other men's phone numbers! ...JUST KIDDING!

The funniest thing, though, was when Rhonda informed him that he was interviewed that morning by my ex-wife. His expression said it all. You should have seen it folks. And then he looked at Rhonda, asked if she was the new one, and his expression basically said, "You've come to your senses and are moving up in the world with this not only FINE and Beautiful woman, but one who is motivated amazing and intelligent."

Rhonda does plan on orgaizing here for the event which I believe will start in Oakland, California. We will be giving heads up and such as time rolls on.

I will now eat the words I said in the Ward post. AIM is indeed doing something.
