I've been watching a lot of what's been going on in the world lately. We've talked about a small portion of it here on this and other blogs. No matter how horrific any situation we talk about, whether immediate to us or immediate to those we will never meet, no one gets in the streets.
You have plenty of reason not to get in the streets. Your favorite TV show is on. You're scared. Etc. And I keep on thinking: "What's it gonna take to get people to Love themselves and their fellow human beings and this planet we live on? What's it gonna take to get them in the streets and fighting for themselves and their fellow human beings. And then I thought: "Maybe...?"
We are facing one immense horrible demon (if you will) that will stop at nothing to fill the coffers of the ultra elite with more money.
We here at the bottom (if you will) have a hard time facing this demon so we demonize the folks around us and fight amongst each other. Lefties are always shooting down other lefties so the righties don't even have to try. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about.
So, I've been thinking the last couple of days, maybe people don't get in the streets because they feel powerless to fight this demon that would willingly kill every last one of us and everything, they display a willingness and ability to destroy the planet. Powerless? Maybe we should try to gather "power?"
"Powwow Highway," for those who haven't seen this wonderful movie, is a road trip movie about an Indian activist and a not so bright but very large Indian fellow. They need each other to get the activists sister out of jail. Instead of going straight there, they take a little journey. At one point, Buddy, the activist, confronts his friend who has control of the car, Philbert, what the hell they are doing not going directly to New Mexico. Philbert grabs Buddy by the collar and says, "WE ARE GATHERING POWER!"
Maybe we need to gather power, too? Maybe we need to find the things that give us strength to fight this ultimate of demons? So, I am going to work on gathering that strength within myself and encouraging others to do so as well. Then we can party in the streets and get it all back before the ultra elite destroy the world. See you there!
