Chris, Pt1

One time, about, I don't know, 6 or 7 years ago, I was invited to an Indigenous Day Celebration at a pizza joint here in town. I had never heard of "Indigenous Day," but I thought it was interesting enough. Lots of Revolutionary speeches were made. Then I realized: Indigenous Day happens on what is federally recognized as Columbus Day.

Up until that point, I had always believed Columbus Day was on one specific day, October 12. You know, like Christmas, New Year, the Fourth of July. Suddenly it was a floating holiday like alleged Thanksgiving. (Floating holiday, floater in a toilet).

So, it still confuses the fuck out of me. There is some sort of psychological separation.

I was asked to participate in a Columbus Day special with KBOO. When I was first asked, I ASSUMED that it was on Friday, October 12. But it was actually yesterday, October 8, the day RECOGNIZED as Columbus Day. What? Growing up, Columbus Day was always on the 12th, and I have NO IDEA how or when it became a floater. It seems to create some sort of psychological separation between the heatless piece of shit Chris was to making it somehow easier to swallow by the populace.

That said, I will probably be writing about the piece of shit throughout the week in order to wrap my mind around the confusion of a floater holiday and what the piece of shit really was which IS a genocidal maniac bent on greed. Like Shusli says in her blog, he didn't start out with genocide in his heart, but it did indeed follow.
