Professors Johnson Are On the Job!

Ridwan requested that Shusli and I speak at one of his classes yesterday. It worked out well considering we both had the time off.

It was a great experience working with Shusli in this manner. We are learning to work off of each other in this forum, and this was the first time we did so.

I felt like I talked way too much, but this was our first time doing this as well.

Many of the students were very curious about Shusli's experiences and observations as a mixed blood indigenous person. Shusli made the sweetest shirt before going to this class as well. She took an old Winterhawks jersey and beneath the racist picture wrote the word, "STEREOTYPE." This also required she learn a new skill on her computer which she picked up rather easily.

My favorite question was : "Why don't they teach us this in school?" I said something like, the system only cares about the system and its own survival. If you knew how awful the system was and all the crimes they commit, you would want to do something about that. Therefore, the system wants to control your education. Control the flow of information. Shusli pointed out as well that up until high school, the education system is only interested in creating workers.

Afterwards, Shusli and I discussed this and plan on learning how to feed off of each other better, and we headed to Rich's for some "Girl's Blend."

We then went to Todai where Shusli bought me a wonderful lunch of buffet sushi and much much more. What was really sweet was the place was crowded with what were obviously Japanese students, maybe close to 100 of them. We tried talking to a few but the best we got out of them was, "Japan." We were really curious about these uniformed folks. It was easy to tell the rebellious ones in the bunch. One fella was wearing white tennis shoes with orange socks. Shusli found a woman who spoke english and asked what was up. She said it was a Japanese high school class. Cool!
